Family Caregiver Support Program

The Family Caregiver Support Program called "Taking Care of You: Powerful Tools for Caregiving" is a 6 week course designed for family caregivers. Each session has several segments. The course is educational in nature, but the opportunity for class participants to interact and share with each other is also important.

Emphasis is placed on the fact that the focus is on "YOU", the caregiver, not on the family member receiving care," the importance of self-care, and learning about taking better care of yourself. It focuses not on specific medical conditions of family members, but on how to deal with them.

Course content includes:

Identifying the challenges of Caregiving,

Identifying and Reducing Personal Stress,

Communicating Feelings, Needs, and Concerns,

Communicating in Challenging Situations,

Learning from our Emotions, and

Mastering Caregiving Decisions.

Call the Aging Resource Center for more information regarding class content and schedules.

At this time both day and evening classes are available.
